Cherry Is King!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Some have five, others fifteen minutes, but for the Kyustendil (a small town in South-western Bulgaria) cherry fame lasts for whole lotta three days!

First, it's important to note that several cities in Bulgaria are famed for their top-class fruit - Silistra is known and loved for its apricots, Lyubimets would treat you with a delicious watermelon and last but juicily not the least, Kyustendil cherries its way to the top three of Bulgarian's fruttiest cities.

To pay due tribute to more than nine kinds of cherry, some of which big, others savory and crispy, thirds sweet and sour, Kyustendil Municipality schedules an annual three-day even starting June 17. Celebrations include cooking contests, lots of Bulgarian folk music with dancers in traditional clothing (like the one pictured to the right) and free cherry sampling :)

Vide and Emo were there to catch the last day's conclusive contest winners announcements and take more than a total of 6 kilos of fresh cherry with them! Make sure you do not miss next time's Kyustendil Cherry Days Celebrations!
